7-08-2018 Mayflower Gulch

Mayflower Gulch is about an hour and a half west of Denver.  There is no summit view here as this is the opposite, your payoff is when you look up all around you.

The trail to the gulch is a dirt road which is rather heavily wooded on each side.











When the trees open up you get an incredible view in every direction. 








And then some post hike ironic beer drinking

It was a hot dry day when we decided to hike Lookout Mountain which is only 30ish minutes to the west of downtown Denver. We loaded up on water and snacks and started off at the lookout area. We then hit the real trail and had some welcome shade for awhile. After awhile of forest the trail opened up to some great views and some hot sun! We were originally going to do St. Mary's Glacier but we decided to head back and do Chief Mountain Then a little reward of drinks and buffalo chicken nachos at Westbound and Down in Idaho Springs.
